Israel Considers Expelling British Officials From Gaza Coordination Center; Germany and Italy Could Be Next

Occupied Palestine (QNN)- Israel is considering expelling British representatives from the Post-Genocide Gaza coordination center in southern Israel in response to Britain's criticism of its attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, the Financial Times reported Thursday.

Some of the sources familiar with the matter said Israel is also considering expelling representatives of other European countries, including Italy and Germany.

The Civil-Military Coordination Center, or CMCC, was established in southern Israel's Kiryat Gat in October under US President Donald Trump's plan to end the genocide in Gaza. It was tasked with monitoring the so-called ceasefire, facilitating the entry of aid and developing post-genocide policies for the Palestinian territory.

The report came two days after Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa'ar announced he intends to "immediately expel" Dutch representatives from the coordination center over "a series of anti-Israel moves by the Dutch government."

The Dutch government decided in late July 2026 to ban the import, purchase and sale of products originating from illegal Israeli settlements in the occupied Palestinian territories, with the measure due to take effect Sept. 22, 2026.

In response, the Netherlands' foreign minister doubled down on his country's sanctions against Israel.

Dutch Foreign Minister Tom Berendsen told local media this week the Israeli descisom was "unnecessary".

"This will not affect the decision of the Netherlands to ban products from illegal settlements," he said, adding that he viewed the decision in the context of Israel’s upcoming elections in October.

The Netherlands has also banned far-right Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich and far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir from entering the country over anti-Palestinian stance.

Spanish personnel were similarly expelled in April from the centre, with Spain being one of the foremost critics of Israel's genocide in Gaza and attacks in the occupied West Bank in Europe.

Two people familiar with the matter told the Financial Times that expelling international representatives could require approval from the “Board of Peace”, which is supposed to oversee the coordination center. A third person, however, disputed this, claiming that Israel has the sovereign right to decide who may enter and who may remain there.

A British source who spoke to the newspaper said some form of retaliation against Britain would not be surprising, given the tougher stance it has recently adopted toward Israel.

An Italian government official dismissed the possibility that Italy and Germany would be expelled from the center. An Israeli source, asked to respond to the report, said: "Israel has good relations with Germany and Italy."

The EU is actively considering a series of bloc-wide measures against Israeli settlements, while the UK is reportedly drawing up new sanctions ahead of the Labour Party conference in September, according to The Times.

This comes after Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband warned the UK would "set out a comprehensive set of measures to respond to Israeli government policies".

A joint statement from 21 Western governments and the EU on Thursday also condemned Israel's plans for the E1 settlement, which would split the West Bank in two and has prompted fears it would kill the idea of a Palestinian state.
